Welcome to NCCRM

On behalf of the management of the National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism (NCCRM), Ghana, I welcome stakeholders to the official website of the National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism (NCCRM), Ghana. As the Director of NCCRM, I am honoured to introduce you to the Centre, and the essential work it does.

The National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism, Ghana is a vital institution dedicated to the coordination and management of early warning systems and response mechanisms in Ghana. This Centre is established by the National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism Act 2021(Act 1070).  By virtue of the Act, the Centre operates as a national agency for strategic research with a public interest mandate.   The Strategic Objectives of the NCCRM, Ghana as established by law are timely identification of an emerging crisis in Ghana and the West Africa sub-region, and the implementation of an improved crisis response mechanism.

The Vision of the National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism is to operate as a national strategic centre of excellence that shall inform decision-making to respond to crises in Ghana and West Africa. The Centre works to enhance the country’s capacity to prepare for, detect, and respond to emergencies and disasters by collecting, collating, centralising, and analysing data or information. It works closely with government agencies, CSOs, and other stakeholders to develop effective early warning systems and response mechanisms with a focus on human security.

Through research, training, and advocacy, the Centre seeks to build awareness and improve preparedness at all levels of society regarding human security. The Centre believes that early warning is critical in preventing crises and mitigating their impacts on human security.   We, therefore, work tirelessly to ensure that decision-makers, responders and those at risk in Ghana are well-informed to handle emerging crises.

The Centre as part of the ECOWAS Early Warning Mechanism thus has a shared interest in maintaining an effective and efficient early warning system that informs decision-making to prevent and resolve crises in the country and the sub-region.

This website serves as a platform to share knowledge, and engage with stakeholders. On this platform, you would find information about our early warning systems, response mechanisms, publications, training programmes, and advocacy activities. We also provide access to valuable resources and tools to support emergency preparedness and response.

I invite you to explore our website, learn more about our work, and join us in our mission to enhance Ghana’s capacity to detect, prepare for, and respond to crises timely to safeguard human security. Thank you for your interest in the National Centre for Coordination of Early Warning and Response Mechanism, Ghana.
